Horde Defenders Drone Hive Guide

Understand Drone Hive's official patrol-ring behavior, four upgrade directions, purchase boundary, and practical aiming checks.

Drone Hive is an official Horde Defenders pass tower. Its product description says the drones circle your aim point and strafe every bug inside the ring. It also names an upgrade tree for more drones, damage, fire rate, and a wider patrol. The description does not publish starting values, node costs, prerequisites, or a best upgrade order.

Aim at the patrol center

Treat the selected point as the center of an area rather than a single enemy target. Place that center so the relevant route passes through the visible patrol ring. On a bend, compare whether the inside of the turn keeps more of the incoming and outgoing route inside the area.

Watch the drones, ring, and enemy path. If bugs never enter the patrol, damage is not the first question. Shift the center or compare patrol width. If bugs are inside and attacks occur but the defense still struggles, coverage alone does not explain the result.

Read the four upgrade directions separately

Direction
Documented change
Question to ask
Drone count
More drones
Does the live node improve the task you are failing?
Damage
Stronger attacks
Are bugs already inside the patrol and being hit?
Fire rate
More frequent firing
What value and cost does the current node show?
Patrol width
A wider patrol
Would more route time inside the ring solve the problem?

Do not reduce these to a universal priority. A route outside the ring suggests a coverage decision; an already covered route suggests an output or objective decision. Upgrade costs and prerequisites can also change the choice.

Compare placement and aim

The tower’s physical placement and the patrol center may be different decisions. Use the live placement rules to find an allowed position, then set the aim point for route overlap. The public pass description does not say whether high ground changes Drone Hive, so do not apply the gun bonus automatically.

After moving the center, wait long enough to see a patrol cycle and attack behavior. Do not judge from an animation that begins before bugs enter the area. Record the route, ring position, upgrade state, and date.

Check badge compatibility

Drone Hive does not fit Fire and Lightning’s written tower list, which names only Flamers and Tesla coils. It also cannot be used in Bare Hands because that objective prohibits building a tower. One Gun Wonder may raise an additional question about whether a pass tower counts as the single tower; the public badge text does not name exclusions, but live badge logic still needs confirmation.

For Specialist, using only Drone Hive would appear consistent with one tower type, but ability use is prohibited and hidden counting rules need a test. Record every placement and sale during a restricted run.

Compare individual and bundle access

The individual Drone Hive pass was listed for 299 Robux on October 3, 2026. The Every Pass Bundle was 1,499 Robux and explicitly named Drone Hive among eight benefits. Prices can change, and the bundle retains a “Coming in next update!” notice.

If Drone Hive is the only benefit you want, compare the current individual product with the bundle before paying. After purchase, confirm the tower appears on the intended save. A checkout success is not the same as observed in-game delivery.

Troubleshoot Drone Hive

  • If the tower is missing, confirm product ownership, save slot, server freshness, and current offer wording before buying again.
  • If drones patrol empty terrain, move the aim center toward the route.
  • If only a small route segment enters the ring, compare another center before buying patrol width.
  • If enemies are inside and being attacked, inspect the current damage, fire-rate, and drone-count nodes.
  • If a badge fails, review whether Drone Hive was allowed by the written tower restriction.

Drone Hive FAQ

What does Drone Hive do?

Its official description says drones circle the aim point and strafe bugs inside the patrol ring.

What can be upgraded?

Drone count, damage, fire rate, and patrol width are named. Exact node values, costs, and order need the live game.

Is Drone Hive worth 299 Robux?

That depends on the current price, delivery, and whether its ring-based tower role is valuable to you. The public record does not prove superiority.

Is it included in Every Pass Bundle?

Yes, the checked bundle description names Drone Hive, but the bundle’s retained next-update wording means delivery should be confirmed.
